AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Carry on Tuesday #61 ~ This week our prompt is the first line of the Freddie Mercury song Barcelona:
I had a perfect dream
~

Lightning
That flash slicing midnight skies
Thunder
That drumbeat rolling midnight depths

Recently
Life was a whirlpool of fears
Midnight questions without stars

I longed for lightning first
Sharp, forked light was better than
No light at all

For a moment I would see
The shapes of the unknown

And then the thunder
Rolling
Rolling anything into sound

And in between the two
My perfect dream
My perfect dawn
Raining light

Old Gizz likes your take on lightning. I had a lonely time when a traffic jam was company and some lightning to light the night would have been perfect.
