AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Just watching the waves at Dromana beach, Mornington Peninsula.
NOTE: I first posted this photo exactly a year ago, here on my blog!
I still love the sense of beautiful silence imbued in it!

Carry on Tuesday #17 ~
Don't speak,
Words will only steal the moment

~ Opening to Anonymous poem Farewell
~
Monday Poetry Train Revisited #44

~

Don't speak of nothings
Let the waves bring you whispers
Ideas from afar
~
Avoid illusions
Secrets from the horizon
Tangible dreamings
~
Stand tall beside me
Gaze deep into the waters
You and I are there
~
I may be a child
But I feel Nature's rhythms
Do you remember
~
Lead me to your dreams
And I will give them heartbeats
Connect with my waves
~
But please stay silent
Words will just steal the moment
And I'm just a child
~

Your final lines are perfect:

'But please stay silent
Words will just steal the moment
And I'm just a child'

More adults would do well to abide by those.

Excellently done. I remember being on quiet beaches with my children and can remember such moments.

Beautiful! The last stanza is very powerful. I remember sitting on the beach at the cabin with my mom and dad, in silence, just listening to the waves on the shore. This poem brought that back very vividly.

Lovely how the poem links to the photo and the prompt. Sometimes we understand best the silences we share with those we love.
