AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Unchained Melody

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Sunset light at Arthurs Seat, Mornington Peninsula
~
Poefusion Tuesday Title prompt ~ Unchained Roads
~

In fading lights
An earth bound road
Empty of people
Empty of traffic
Somehow seems a lonely road ~
Unchained of routine
Unchained of practical, purposeful activity ~
Somehow seems a useless road
Inviting only those who feel
A need to explore blurry horizons
A need to wander
Alone
Maybe with no particular purpose
Except just
To be
~
But the transient roads of the skies
Marked by sunset clouds
Curbing filmy tracks ~
Changing direction and shape with
Every breath of wind ~ are
Never chained
Never chained to a particular
Social norm,
Political, cultural or religious purpose
~
And it is these roads ~
These ephemeral
Dreamscape roads which
Mark
Design
Play
The unchained melody~
The eternal journey of
The inner spirit
~
Tuesday Title

looking out upon the empty road that lies ahead of each of us,, as we continue on the journey into self,, is both defeating and empowering... sometimes it takes more than just a step or two decide which is which.......

lovely verse gem....

Once again I love the sentiment behind this poem. The contrast of man-made roads with the 'ephemeral dreamscape roads' of the sky. Lovely.

You are on such a journey...this eternal journey of inner spirit, of many roads and mysteries ahead. Each day a new path...shall I take this road or that...

These clouds and the light are so beautiful. What a wonderful sky to spend your day under.... the words are lovely too!
