Lighthouse Mania

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ McCrae lighthouse, Mornington Peninsula

Photo Story prompt
~

A wet, cold, early Saturday morning is
NOT
The best time to decide to wander
Armed with a camera
~
But then
There are those who are
Stubborn
Crazy
Desperate to collect
More pics
Somewhere
Anywhere
~
And I love lighthouses
~
McCrae lighthouse is
A lonely
Unlit

Abandoned
Light
Standing a little forlornly
Right beside a coastal highway
Right beside a yacht club
Right beside a very muddy track to
The glories of wet
Sticky sand
~
So I took the chicken way out
And snapped my pics
From the safety of
A very empty
Sealed
Road
~

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Light BY the lighthouse
~
And not even
The grey of chilled early morning could
Dampen my warped sense of humour ~
A light BESIDE the lighthouse?

The lighthouse on Sanibel Island is very similar to that one. Many people think of the classic wooden clapboard structure with a beacon on top when they think of lighthouses, but I've been around the one on Sanibel so much, I tend to think of this sort of structure instead.

The lighthouse does look forlorn under a troubled sky.

A lighthouse with a good poem. Most of us past by a lighthouse without realizing the good use of it.

Here on the Mississippi shores we have no need for light houses, but we have shore markers and red and white buoys. The barges shine spotlights on the shore line to find the way of the channel...or to get a birds eye view of the skinny-dippers...there is a haunted light house in Florida and it is beautiful, surrounded by palms.

Very cool. Quite different than the lighthouses I've seen in Florida and New Jersey.

Thank you for visiting. Extraordinary, interesting Photosafari. I like your words too and had to chuckle as well. It is also a bit sad to have a lighthouse and not use it any more. I guess it has probably given comfort to many ships.

That is a beautiful way to tell you story, what a way with words. I light the light by the lighthouse....the thought of it is very humorous! Thank you for sharing your words and pictures!

I love lighthouses, too. I also love gloomy, rainy days (on occasion), so I adore your pictures.
