AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

What ugliness?

Writer's Island prompt ~ Transformation
~

Window views are mesmerising ~
A special pot of gold beyond the rainbow
A special wishing well
~
But a window tinctured with
Lightly tawny textures of
A thin blind
Transforms into
Worlds within worlds
Dreams within dreams
~

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Blackbird at Balnarring Beach
~

An ordinary black common crow
Is usually
Just a black bird
Just a scavenger
Just an ugly Hitchcock omen
~
But close up ~
Snapped mid pre-flight motion ~
The blackbird
Arches into the elegance of
Monumental grace ~
And its wings
Surprisingly
Ring with the tones of
Captivating
Deepest
Midnight
Blues
~

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Old pier pylons at Balnarring Beach
~

Even something old ~
Like the fragments of some pier
Jammed in the tumble of rockfall~
Unwanted
Neglected
Rotting ~
Become
(In a certain light
At a certain angle)
Beautiful sculptures
Contributing to
The magic
Of a seascape
~

you know sometimes the thin films become thick walls, blocking the transformation...which they first set out to achieve

the third is one of my favorites... i have an affinity for old rundown or decomposing shelters fences barns etc... i wonder what that says about me....

I love this piece and the pics. I think what you have brought to attention is that sometimes we rush through our lives and just take certain things for granted if we could all just slow down and look at things we may just see the real beauty of them.

Gemma,

You deserve the merit of finding the best angles of this things in photography and in your words. You directed us to look at this things from different and beautiful perspective. You are convincing.

There is a little good in everything. It is a gift in knowing how to find it.

I wish you well.
