AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Free Spirit

Pic on Flickr by Gemma Wiseman ~ Vineyards at Red Hill

One Single Impression prompt ~ Freedom
~
So many of us have the freedom to enjoy nature's beauty ~
To taste the scents of leaves awakened by fresh rain
To feel the crisp air of early morning
To hear the lyrics of timeless wildlife
To see the wine of the soul springing on the vine
~
But is the spirit strong enough
To leave the beauty untainted ~
To forget about bottling the magic
And marketing it with an exotic label
And waiting for the wealth
That must fall
From corporate heaven
~
For such a heaven
Has a short lifespan ~
And this freedom is a mask ~
And nature has a vicious sword
Called
Vengeance
~

And there is a poem called Posted Messages?
It is a posting on my AuraGem Songlines, relating to the freedom of imagining symbols in the world around us. In particular, it refers to our freedom to make choices ~ wise choices ~ valuing what we have and preserving it, maybe even building on it. There is a pic from my beloved village of Red Hill, on the Mornington Peninsula.

You make me think nature has a right and a will to protect herself. Thanks!

well written poetry about such an important and contemporary conflict. the conflict between nature and us humans is one I too fear, humanity might end up being the bitter loosers. thanks for sharing this

When I want solitude I escape to be nearer nature. I loved this.
